Professional Experience

Whilst studying to be a Chartered Accountant, she acquired a deep interest in taxation and found it an enjoyable and interesting subject which provides many opportunities for debate.

Simone has 19 years of experience in the local and international Financial Services Industry. She served her articles in the Banking Division of PricewaterhouseCoopers -Johannesburg) (“PwC”) and was seconded by PwC to work in the capital market division of PwC’s New York office. Thereafter, Simone was transferred to PwC Cayman Islands office where she gained experience working as an audit manager in the Banking and Asset Management Division.

After four years in the Cayman Islands, having gained experience in the international asset management and private equity industry, Simone returned to South Africa and joined the Close Brothers Group (United Kingdom) where she gained further knowledge and experience of international corporate fund structures, the operation thereof as well as an opportunity to specialize in tax.

After achieving her HDip (Tax), she worked at Bowmans Law firm as a senior associate in their corporate tax department where she worked on a variety of both domestic and international tax (direct and indirect) matters. After seven years with Bowmans Simone obtained an opportunity to establish a commercial and tax consultancy with Ward Brink Attorneys which provides tax advisory services to corporate and individual clients.

Areas of Expertise

As a qualified and experienced CA(SA) and tax specialist Smone assist and advise individuals, corporates and business owners on various local and international tax and business transactions such as restructures, business development/expansion as well as provide local and international tax advice in relation to investments/estates/trusts, migration, exchange control, corporate taxation, indirect taxes and tax authority dispute resolution.
